Platform-Specific Details

YouTube Sources

YouTube sources track new video uploads from a specific channel. How to find a channel:
  • Search by channel name (e.g., “Lex Fridman”, “ThePrimeagen”)
  • Reduce will pull recent videos from this channel for your newsletter
What content is captured:
  • Video title
  • Description
  • Upload date
  • Transcript (when available)
See YouTube platform guide for more details.

Reddit Sources

Reddit sources monitor top posts from a subreddit. How to find a subreddit:
  • Search with or without the “r/” prefix (e.g., “reactjs” or “r/reactjs”)
  • Reduce tracks top posts from the past day/week
What content is captured:
  • Post title
  • Post text/description
  • Upvote count
  • Comment count
See Reddit platform guide for more details.

X (Twitter) Sources

X/Twitter sources require the Pro plan.
X sources follow posts from a specific account. How to find an account:
  • Search by username or handle (e.g., “elonmusk” or “@elonmusk”)
  • Reduce pulls recent posts from this account
What content is captured:
  • Post text
  • Post date
  • Engagement metrics (likes, retweets, replies)
See X/Twitter platform guide for more details.

Removing Sources

To remove a source from your newsletter:
  1. Navigate to the Sources tab
  2. Find the source you want to remove
  3. Click the “Remove” button next to the source
Removing a source will not delete existing content that has already been delivered. It only stops monitoring future content from that source.

Source Strategy Tips

Diversify Your Mix

Balance different content types for richer newsletters:
Example: "Web Development Weekly"
- 2-3 YouTube channels (video tutorials, conference talks)
- 2-3 Subreddits (community discussions, questions)
- 2-3 X accounts (quick tips, breaking news)

Quality Over Quantity

Start with fewer high-quality sources rather than maxing out your limit. You can always add more later.
It’s better to have 5 consistently valuable sources than 10 sources with mixed quality.

Align Sources with Your Sections

Plan your sources based on the sections you want in your newsletter:
SectionMatching Sources
”Latest Research Papers”Academic researchers on X, ArXiv subreddit
”Tutorial Videos”Educational YouTube channels
”Community Discussions”Active subreddits in your niche
”Breaking News”News-focused X accounts

Troubleshooting

Source Not Found

If your search doesn’t find a source:
  • Double-check the spelling
  • Try searching without special characters (@ or r/)
  • Verify the account/channel exists on the platform
  • For YouTube, make sure it’s a channel, not a video

Source Added But No Content

If a source appears but isn’t generating content:
  • The source may not have published new content since it was added
  • Check the source’s last post/upload date on the platform
  • Wait for the next scheduled delivery to see fresh content

Next Steps

After adding sources:
  1. Create sections - Define what content to extract with AI prompts
  2. Set your cadence - Choose delivery frequency
